Just who was Mary Magdalene?
I believe one of the most important thing to know about Mary is the depth of her devotion to Jesus. As Jesus moved throughout the country, teaching and talking about God, he was accompanied by a group of women and Mary Magdalene was the main woman in this group. She had been close to Jesus during the beginning of His ministry and she stayed close to him as he faced death. She was present in each of the four gospel accounts of the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Most importantly…..Mary was faithful to the end.
Mary of MagdalaMary of MagdalaMary witnessed the resurrection on Easter morning when she discovered that Jesus’ body was missing from the tomb. She was the first person to speak to Jesus after the Resurrection. She is called ‘Apostle to the Apostles’, because the risen Jesus told her to ‘go and tell’ ♥
Something awesome about this too?
Women are valid witnesses to Christ! The idea of women as primary witnesses does not seem unusual to people in the 21st century, but it was a revolutionary concept at the time. The testimony of women was not given the same weight as men’s, either personally or in a court of law. Mary’s witness to the Resurrection reversed this idea! Which then made the
status of women in early Christianity equal to men’s. When the Christian stories described Mary Magdalene and the other women as the first witnesses of the Resurrection, they were saying something important about the nature of women: that they were capable of being as fully Christian as men.

I believe one of the most important things to know about Mary is the depth of her devotion to Jesus! The gospel writers are specific in noting that Mary and a number of other women had followed Jesus from Galilee (Matthew 27:55). The first mention of her is in Luke 8:2-3, so we know that she was with Jesus from the beginning of his ministry. And the last mention is in John 20, where we find Jesus appearing to her at the empty tomb. Mary left home and all that she had to follow Jesus for most of his three year public ministry. This just shows a piece of how important and amazing Mary was. ♥

16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”
17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.
19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den.20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”
21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”
23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
